VirtualBox is a family of powerful x86 virtualization products for enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). Download VirtualBox & install.

Following are the steps to install Linux OS on VirtualBox
1) Create new Machine by clicking on New tab

2) Mention Name & select OS type with appropriate kernel version.

3) Mention amount of memory.

4) Select if existing HDD available or create new one.

5) while creating new HDD, use dynamic drive & location to store.

6) Click next after selecting virtual hdd.

7) Select appropriate ISO / CD-ROM for installation

8) Click on start to initiate guest OS

9) Guest OS installation will start.
