Well its not a new news, but yes google map client for android has a ability to cache the area of 10 miles radius from the point we select. So now no matter where you plan to go, you don’t have to worry about network coverage. All you will have to do is pre-cache the required area on your mobile/ tablet. And how to do it, well steps are as given below.
Very first you need to activate pre-cache setting, so launch the app and go to settings.
Click on labs
Enable pre-cache map area
Now go back to map again, go to your desired location and tap on screen, and the screen will show a option with name of location.

touch this option, and on next screen at lower end you will find options as shown below.
click on pre-cache map area, and it will start loading the data.
And once the data loading finishes, you will notice a square box around the selected area. And that denotes the are is cached. In below image it shows the two squares as i have cached two locations.
Now in case you wanna find out how many areas are already cached on the device all you need to is, go to settings => cache settings => pre-cached map areas. And it gives the list of all the cached areas.
And from here also you can delete the cache.
