Install SVN Server using source

While installing subversion-1.8, no need to install neon

If for some reason you wish to install svn using source than using rpm, this article may help you.

Install dependency
yum install httpd-devel

Install sqlite
wget http://www.sqlite.org/sqlite-amalgamation-3.6.13.tar.gz
tar zxvf sqlite-amalgamation-3.6.13.tar.gz
cd sqlite-3.6.13
./configure && make && make install

Install neon
wget http://www.webdav.org/neon/neon-0.29.0.tar.gz
tar zxvf neon-0.29.0.tar.gz
cd neon-0.29.0
./configure && make && make install

Install Subversion from Source

wget http://subversion.tigris.org/downloads/subversion-1.6.16.tar.bz2
tar jxvf subversion-1.6.16.tar.bz2
cd subversion-1.6.16
./configure --bindir=/bin --sbindir=/sbin --with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs --with-apache-libexecdir=/usr/lib/httpd/modules/
make
make install


You can refer this for configuration details.

This method is tested on OEL & CentOS, should work with other distro also.
