Play Divx / Mp3 on Fedora

Fedora 18

By default fedora does not provide totem plugins to play divx / mp3.

To get plugin support run following commands as root

rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm
yum install gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-ffmpeg gstreamer-plugins-ugly gstreamer1-libav gstreamer1-plugins-bad-free-extras gstreamer1-plugins-bad-freeworld gstreamer1-plugins-good-extras gstreamer1-plugins-ugly ffmpeg ffmpeg-libs ffmpeg2theora gstreamer-ffmpeg -y

Works with Fedora 17
Works with Fedora 16

To get plugin support run following commands as root

You can also install vlc

    :( tanks but it give me an error curl: (22) the requested URL returned error : 404 error : skipping http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm – transfer failed what can i do now :(

      try wget then rpm -ivh rpm_file. I am able to download this very link, You can also try downloading using another isp.

    It Shows Error like “Error: Package: ffmpeg-libs-0.7.1-1.fc16.i686 (rpmfusion-free-rawhide) Requires: libva.so.1 You could try using –skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va –nofiles –nodigest ” So please help me. My vlc player only plays Video not Audio.

      try “yum install libva -y” libva is there on fedora repo, if still not working try “yum clean all”
