Migrate Win 2003 On Xenserver -P2V

To migrate physical server on Xenserver you may use Xenconvert

During migration, after successfully converting OS, Win 2003 was not able to boot on Xenserver. In other words you may not succeed P2V using Xenconvert, whereas on Citrix forum few have successfully migrated.

So what is the best alternative for migration? Its inbuilt windows utility “nt system backup”

follow below steps for successful P2V migration.

1) Install Win 2003 with same service pack & patches as of physical server on xenserver vm.

2) Take system stat backup from physical server (Using NTBACKUP)

3) Restore backup on VM.

Reboot server & you’ll find your windows server running.

I have migrated Win 2003 AD on VM, & is working without error ever since.
