SliTaz- Linux OS for old Computers

slitaz SliTaz Linux OS for old Computers

Many of us still have old computers at home / office. I have one. I use my old Celeron 1.1Ghz with 256Mb RAM for torrent downloads. Although I prefer CentOS for servers & Ubuntu on laptop I recommend SliTaz for old computers.

Reason being its very small & fast enough to not let me realize that its  booting on my old computer.

On my PC SliTaz took 50 seconds to completely boot from CD.

Took 110 seconds for installation on HDD

Took 20 seconds to boot using HDD.

This was my first trial & I am going to stick to this distro for few months. Apart from speed & small size it has all the normal features that one needs e.g torrent client, wireless support, office, image, multimedia applications. Also you can download packages from its web.
