Remove old Kernel from Ubuntu

I am using Ubuntu for home & office use. Like every other user I upgrade to latest packages.

Unlike other packages old Linux Kernel is not used, though we keep it for rescue purpose. Ever since 9.04 released there is been three kernel updates.

I do not require to keep two for the rescue purpose so I decided to remove one. Following is procedure to remove old kernel.

Make a note of Kernel you are using.

uname -r

For the old one you can remove from System –> Administration –> Synaptic Package Manager.

Enter linux-image in Quick search

from list right click & select Mark For Removal

synaptic
